Shirley Jean Carlile

Shirley Jean Carlile, 90, passed away on October 25, 2026, at Lampasas Assisted Living in Lampasas, Texas. She was born on October 25, 1936, in Big Spring, Texas, to Ben and Aline Long.

Shirley grew up in San Saba, Texas. At 16, she married the love of her life, Jarvis Carlile, and had three children. They would remain happily married for 71 years before his passing in 2024. Shirley and Jarvis spent the majority of their lives in Lampasas, she showed her love through cooking for family and friends. If you weren’t offered something Shirley cooked or baked, then you never truly met her. She first met Jarvis with an apron on, smelling of fried chicken, and he instantly fell in love.

Shirley owned and operated a country store in Adamsville, Texas, and worked at Montgomery Wards as well as a local Lampasas dentist office, all while raising three children. During retirement, she fully dedicated herself to her family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed serving on the bereavement committee at First Baptist Church in Lampasas.

Shirley is survived by her children, David Carlile (Darlene), Nina Mickan (Gordon), and Jimmy Carlile (David); her grandchildren, Matt Carlile (Belen), John Mickan (Courtney), Britt Carlile (Jennifer), Clint Carlile, Danni Mickan, and Brooks Wolff-Hack (Jon); 3 bonus grandsons, Kevin Mickan (deceased), Aaron Mickan, and Bryan Mickan; eight precious great-grandchildren; her only brother, JC Long (Gail), and her three nephews, Bob, Jay, and Jon Long.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Lampasas on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 10 am.  Burial will follow at Lometa City Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the employees at Lampasas Assisted Living and Magnolia Hospice for their constant and loving care.
