Susan Ilah Bryant, lovingly known as Sue, passed away peacefully at her home on October 15, 2026, at the age of 87, surrounded by her beloved children.
Sue was born on March 4, 1939, in Jackson, Michigan, to Carl and Elaine Atkins. She grew up in Bloomfield, New Jersey, where she graduated from high school in 1957.
Shortly after high school, Sue married and began a life filled with family, adventure, and memories that would last a lifetime. As a military wife and mother of six children, she embraced the military lifestyle, traveling around the world and experiencing many different places along the way. Through all the changes and adventures, family remained an important part of her life, and she created a lifetime of memories with those she loved.
Sue knew how to find happiness in the little things. Whether enjoying a cup of coffee, spending time putting together a puzzle, or simply visiting and sharing a laugh, she found joy in life's everyday moments. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a fun-loving spirit that could brighten a room and bring smiles to those around her. Her laughter, quick wit, and ability to find humor in life will be among the many things her family and friends remember most.
Sue was a woman with a strong work ethic, a kind heart, and a spirit that carried her through life's many adventures. She loved in her own special way and leaves behind a family filled with stories, laughter, and treasured memories.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Elaine Atkins, and her brother, Steve Atkins.
She is survived by her two brothers, Edward Atkins of Cobleskill, New York, and Sydney Atkins of Bellingham, Washington; and her six children, Debbie Creery (Greg), Denise Tucker (Joel), Darlene Johnson, Donna Cockrell, Roy Cockrell (Nicole), and Deanna Juarez; her grandchildren, Nick, Bradley, Brittany, Christy, Michael, Jennifer, Brandy, Colton, Kobie, and Seth; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The love she gave to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family will continue through generations.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
Rest peacefully Sue, may your coffee always be warm, your puzzles always come together, and your days be filled with the peace and happiness you brought to others.
