Vera Brita Florio

Vera Brita Florio, passed away quietly at her home on September 25, 2026. She was 84.

Born on August 14, 1942, in East Prussia, Vera was a woman of warmth, strength, and unmistakable flair. She graduated high school in Bamberg, Germany, and carried with her throughout life a loving spirit and a distinctly German sense of style that those around her cherished and remembered.

In her early years, Vera loved to travel, embracing new places and experiences. She was also deeply creative and found joy in many forms of artistic expression. She loved artwork, painting, ceramics, stained glass work, sewing, and photography. These interests reflected both her imagination and the care she brought to the world around her.

After her husband Paul retired from the Army, Vera and Paul devoted 30 years to training and breeding racehorses. This chapter of her life spoke to her dedication, hard work, and love for the life she and Paul built together. 

Vera was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Paul Florio, and by her son, Michael Florio.

She is survived by her son Christopher Florio and his wife, Traci, of Copperas Cove, Texas; her granddaughter Taylor Mooney and her husband, Dustin, of Copperas Cove, Texas; and her sisters-in-law, Susan Bragg and Fria Raney, both of Arizona. She will be remembered with love by her family and by all who knew her as a caring, creative, and spirited woman.

Vera’s life was marked by love, artistry, hard work, and deep family devotion. Her memory will remain a blessing to those who knew and loved her.
