Walter Phelps

Walter Phelps, a dedicated small business owner and Korean War Veteran, passed away at the age of 93 on February 21, 2024, in Copperas Cove, TX. Born on May 31, 1930, in Torrington, Wyoming to Albert and Helen Phelps, he was a beloved brother to Kenneth Phelps and cherished by his surviving family - his wife Anna Phelps, sons Dale Walkup (and his wife Let), Mikel Walkup, Larry Walkup, and Daniel Phelps, as well as his sister Pauline Howardton.

Walter was known for his exceptional sense of humor and unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind fond memories of being very loving and funny to those who had the pleasure of knowing him. In addition to his dedication to his family and business ventures - owning half a dozen small businesses over the years - Walter was passionate about golfing. He could often be found on the golf course several times a week indulging in his favorite hobby.

His military service during the Korean War as part of the Hospital Corps showcased his commitment to serving his country with honor and dedication. Beyond his professional and military endeavors, Walter's love for golfing shone through as one of his defining interests.

A graveside service to honor and remember Walter Phelps will be held on February 28, 2024, at 3:00 PM at an intimate gathering in Killeen, TX. The service will provide an opportunity for family and friends to come together to celebrate Walter's life, share memories of his enduring humor and love, and bid farewell to a man who brought joy to all who knew him.
