Wanda Faye Asbury

Wanda Faye Asbury, 75, passed away on April 2, 2023, at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, TX.  She was born on October 11, 1947, in Waxahachie, TX to W.A. (Blue) Hyles and Maggie Lou Hyles of Italy, TX.

A memorial service will be held at Lometa United Methodist Church at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 8, 2023, with a family visitation and luncheon following the service.

Wanda grew up in Italy, TX, and graduated from Italy High School in 1966.  After high school, she married David Lee Bridges whom she had her first child with, Lewis Gail Bridges, then divorced shortly after.

Wanda married Gordon Ray Asbury on March 2, 1971, in Waxahachie, TX and they were happily married for 52 years.  Wanda was a member of the Lometa United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking, crafting, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, W.A. and Maggie Lou Hyles; and twin sister, Judy Kay Turk.

Wanda is survived by her spouse, Gordon of Beaumont, TX; her son, Lewis Bridges and wife, Ronda of Lometa, TX; daughters, Sherry Skidmore and husband, Gene of Buda, TX, and Deborah Asbury of Leander, TX; her brother, Randy Hyles, and wife, Tammy of Waxahachie, TX; her grandchildren, Jacob Skidmore, Monica Bridges, Morgan Hearne and husband, Pierce, and Robert Skidmore and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Lometa Garden Club, Lometa Senior Citizen's Center, or the Lometa United Methodist Church.
