Wayne Lyndon Boultinghouse

Wayne Lyndon Boultinghouse, 83, of Lampasas, passed away on July 29, 2026. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening August 2, 2026 from 5:30 to 7:30 at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at the First Street Church of Christ on August 3, beginning at 1:30 with burial following at the Smithwick Cemetery in Smithwick, TX outside of Marble Falls.

Wayne was born in Lampasas, TX on July 13, 1943 to James Bradley Boultinghouse and Lola Myrtle (Meredith). Wayne was the youngest of the four brothers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and helping out at his family’s ranch. In high school he was in FFA, where he was the Chapter President and awarded the Lone Star Farmer Award in 1960. Wayne also was in the marching band and jazz band, where he played the tuba and the bass, respectively. He graduated from Lampasas High School in 1961. He continued his education at Tarleton State College and Southwest Texas State College, where he graduated in 1965 with a B.S. in Agriculture Education.

Wayne first married Dona Faye McKenzie in January 1964. Wayne and Dona met in San Marcos where both attended Southwest Texas State University. After 21 years as a wife and mother, Dona lost her battle with cancer. Wayne and Sherry Burk Souza married in 1986. They brought their blended family to Wayne’s hometown, Lampasas, where they were both teachers for many years. He brought his passion for the outdoors, land, weather, and agricultural experience to the classroom. He taught eighth grade Earth Science and later Ag Shop, before retiring in 2006. His experience as an educator spanned 36 years and two states. Wayne taught students in Burlington, Kansas, and the Texas communities of Bandera, Pottsville, Port Lavaca and Lampasas. In between his years teaching at Pottsville and Port Lavaca, Wayne worked as the Head Groundskeeper for Baylor University in 1970-1975.

After retirement, Wayne shifted his focus to giving back to the community in which he grew up. He was elected Lampasas County Judge in 2006. He served three terms of office, ending in December 2018. During his time as Lampasas County Judge, Wayne served on numerous organizations such as the San Saba-Llano LCRA Board, Hill Country Transit Board of Directors, Texas Floodplain Managers Association and Central Texas Council of Governments. Alongside his years as Judge, he also contributed to the community in a variety of other ways. For many years, he took pride in announcing the Badger Football games, He coined the phrase of “yellow rag on the field”. For over 20 years he announced the Lampasas Youth Livestock Show. As a volunteer on the Spring Ho committee from 1996-1999, he enjoyed giving back to the community’s most celebrated festival, serving as chairman his final year. Wayne also served on the Keystone Square Museum Board.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Lola Boultinghouse. His three brothers Jimmy, Roy Lee, and Gladden Boultinghouse. His first wife, Dona Boultinghouse. And his son, Doug Boultinghouse. He is survived by, wife Sherry Boultinghouse. His son Jim Boultinghouse, and wife Roxanne. Daughter, Betsy Pittman, and husband David. Daughter, Shelly Worley, and husband David. Daughter, Toni Prate, and husband George. Grandchildren, Tatum & Diego Carmona, James & Ariel Boultinghouse, Savannah & J.T. Price, Trey Graham, Caden Graham, Chandler Boultinghouse, George Prate, Sovay Prate, Emma Prate, Brandon Perez, Hayden Perez, and Daniel Perez. Great-grandchildren, Landon Boultinghouse, Forrest Boultinghouse, and Harlow Price, and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
