In Loving Memory of William Leonard Kohl
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Cousin, Uncle, and Servant of Faith
January 16, 1936 - June 27, 2025
William Leonard Kohl, a man of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and devotion to his family, passed away peacefully at the age of 89.
Bill served in the United States Army from January 1959 - December 1960. He later married Camella Kohl (Jarvis) in 1963 and settled down in Antioch, IL. From there, he got busy building his family. He was blessed with Alicia, Andrea, Mark (his favorite), and Brooke. Bill and Camella enjoyed 20-plus years of marriage in the Antioch area, raising four awesome children, of which Mark was the awesomest. The Lord called Camella home to heaven in 1985.
Bill then found love again and married Mary Kohl (Honeycutt). With that, Bill lovingly welcomed Stella and Delbert into the family with warmth and generosity. Bill and Mary enjoyed 30-plus years of marriage, starting in Illinois, then Florida, then Tennessee, and finally landed in Lampasas, Texas. The Lord called Mary home to heaven in 2018.
While in Lampasas, Bill was blessed with many friends over the years. He was very close with his dear friends Betty Hendrix, Daniel and Gabby Peterson, and Mike and Jan Nickson.
Bill is survived by his children, Alicia (Steve) Stanek, Andrea (Jeff) Pawlak, Mark #1 favorite (Tammy) Kohl, Brooke (Bryan) Tillmanns, Stella (Mike) Dambrosi, and Charles Delbert Hurley.
His legacy continues through his 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Ruth Kohl, his sisters, Betty Bogart, Ann Stickler, and Patsy Woodral, and his grandson, Andrew Vascelius.
A lifelong lover of golf and a fierce competitor at the card table, Bill found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether teeing off with friends or gathering around the kitchen table for a game of euchre, he brought laughter, wisdom, and a touch of mischief to every moment.
Bill's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He served faithfully in his church community, offering his time, talents, and heart to those in need. His quiet acts of service and steadfast belief were a guiding light to all who knew him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, and faith - a life well-lived and deeply cherished.
The family would like to offer our sincerest thanks to the Lampasas Nursing Home staff and New Century Hospice staff. With a special thank you to Angelica Valentine and Rosie Wright. Your warmth and compassion was truly a blessing.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, August 16 at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas from Noon to 2 pm with a service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
