William Lee Frye, a dedicated professional, passionate car enthusiast, and loving family man, passed away on May 14, 2026, in Gatesville, Texas. Born on June 8, 1943, in Decatur, Illinois, William led a life marked by commitment to his career, devotion to his family, and a zest for his hobbies that enriched those who knew him.

A 1961 graduate of Buckley High School, William embarked on a career in management that spanned many years before he achieved the milestone of becoming part owner and president of Paxton Printing/Paxton Daily Record. His leadership and dedication to his work were notable aspects of his professional journey.

William was a man who cherished his free time, often found working in his yard or the garage, enveloped in the hands-on projects he loved. He was an avid participant in car culture, particularly fond of his 1957 Chevy Bel Air. This cherished vehicle was more than just a car to William—it was a symbol of his passion and skill. He proudly showcased his Bel Air at numerous car shows and drag races, amassing a notable collection of trophies that graced an entire wall of his garage, attesting to his accomplishments and the joy he found in this pastime.

In addition to his automotive enthusiasms, William enjoyed bowling and the simple pleasures of sitting quietly with his dog, moments that reflected his gentle and amiable nature.

In 2022, William relocated to Texas to be closer to his children and grandchildren, embracing family connections as one of his greatest joys. He is survived by his son, Patrick Frye; daughter, Fallon Ward; grandchildren Macy Proctor, Presley Ward, Corey Frye, and Clayton Frye; as well as several great-grandchildren who carried forward his legacy. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Wanda Brown and Glenn Frye, and his grandson Andrew Frye.

William Lee Frye’s life was a testament to dedication, passion, and family. He will be remembered with deep respect and affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory endures in the hearts of his loved ones and in the lasting marks he made on both his professional community and the vibrant car culture he so enthusiastically embraced.
