Willis "Mike" Beard, a gentle soul whose laughter could light up even the darkest of days, passed away on September 14, 2025, in Killeen, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and artistry that will echo through the lives he touched. Born on May 2, 1949, in the heart of Indiana, Mike grew into a multifaceted man whose generous spirit resonated throughout his community.

From an early age, Mike displayed a natural talent for craftsmanship, an inclination that blossomed as he pursued his studies at Welding School. With diligence and dedication, he graduated, emboldening his passion for welding and repair. This pursuit transformed into a successful career as he owned and operated his own mobile welding and repair service, a testament to his skill and hard work. Known for his meticulous craft, Mike specialized in the custom fabrication of three-wheeled Harley Davidson motorcycles—lovingly dubbed "Trikes" by their adoring owners—adding to the tapestry of his life’s accomplishments.

Beyond his remarkable professional achievements, it was Mike's deep sense of love and compassion that endeared him to friends and family alike. He possessed a charm that lifted spirits and an infectious humor that made every encounter a cherished memory. Those fortunate enough to know him often spoke of his extreme patience and generosity. Mike was the kind of man who would lend an ear without judgment and offer help without hesitation. He wasn’t just a family man; he was a beacon of light, an advocate of support, and a steadfast friend.

Mike’s zest for life was further expressed through his love of building and riding motorcycles, passions deeply rooted in freedom and adventure. Whether it was the thrill of the open road or the satisfaction of crafting a masterpiece, Mike thrived amidst the vibrations and roars of his beloved machines.

A proud soldier who served his country honorably, Mike's commitment to service extended beyond the battlefield and into the hearts of those who knew him. He embodied the ideal of a man who stood tall for his beliefs, never wavering in his kindness and compassion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Charles Beard and Ida Childs Beard, and numerous brothers and sisters.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Tonya Jones and husband, Hoc Lopez of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Damien Jones, Ian, Julian, and Roberto Lopez; stepchildren, Cheri White and Clayton Styron.

Mike also leaves behind his nieces and nephews and many close friends that were like family.

As we prepare to honor his memory, family and friends are invited to the funeral service set for September 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Copperas Cove Location in Copperas Cove, Texas. The address is 1614 S FM 116, a place where those whose lives were enriched by Mike can gather to share tales, laughter, and tears.
