William "Bill" Berton Medart

August 3, 1941 — October 25, 2020

It is with full hearts, we mourn and celebrate the passing of William Berton "Bill" Medart. Bill passed on Sunday, October 25, 2020, in Lubbock, Texas. Graveside Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Long Cove Cemetery in Lometa, Texas with Rick Smitherman officiating. The family asks that you please observe COVID-19 precautions and wear a mask while gathered. A memorial service at Austin Street Church of Christ will be held at a later date. He was born the eldest of three children, August 3, 1941, to parents, Alice Woodlee Medart and Thomas Chandler Medart in Lampasas, Texas. He grew up in Lometa, Texas, and graduated high school as salutatorian of his class in 1959. He attended Southwestern University in Georgetown and the University of Texas at Arlington and was a United States Navy Veteran. Bill married Lois Elkins in 1965, and to this union, two children, DeAnna and Bryan were born. He enjoyed a successful career in communications and retired as Texas State Regional Technical Manager with AT&T. A long time resident of Liberty Hill and the Georgetown area of Central Texas, he also made homes in the DeLeon/Gorman area and most recently, in Levelland, Texas, where he was a much-loved member of Austin Street Church of Christ. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Medart Hamilton and T.C. Medart; parents-in-law, Vera and Russell Elkins, and grandchild, Tanner. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lois of Levelland, Texas; children, Bryan (Rhetta) of Levelland, DeAnna of Austin; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brother, T.J. Medart (Sandra) of Mullin; sister, Glenda Soto of Bertram; sister-in-law, Nelda Franks (Mark) of Brownwood; brother-in-law, Mike Elkins (Chrissy) of Decatur; numerous nieces, nephews and all the friends he made anywhere he went. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Bill's memory to Cherokee Home for Children at P.O. Box 295, Cherokee, TX, 76832 or Austin Street Church of Christ at 510 Austin Street, Levelland, TX, 79336. While we will miss his sweet spirit and loving presence in our lives until we are together again, we celebrate his Homecoming. "Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:21
